Project Description

Sherwood, Oregon

Using a CM/GC contract delivery, this project was the construction of a new “Member’s Tasting Room” at one of Oregon’s premier wineries. Although essentially new construction, the 5,000 square-foot, two-story building was attached by a loggia to the existing facility. Partnering with architectural firm CIDA, Inc. of Tigard, Oregon, Woodburn Construction was able to successfully engineer the owner’s desire for an “outdoor” second floor wine tasting area. This area, known as a “Roof Deck”, offers spectacular views of the Cascade Mountains, is open to the elements on three sides and provides a covered area for wine tasting nearly year-round. Radiant heaters and open blade fans both heat and circulate air to keep wine tasters comfortable. The Roof Deck itself is a concrete floor over a membrane system that protects the first floor from water intrusion during periods of rain. The building also includes a small kitchen.
